Estimating Cropland Rental Rates
Find the document which has the county where your cropland is located. Press the rotate button at the top of the open page to read directly from screen. The symbols represent the soils in this county.
Next, if you know your soil type and the symbol for your soil(s), go to the soil type(s) in the chart to determine your approximate CRP soil rental rate.
If you do not know your soil type or soil symbol(s), go the NRCS Soils website to locate your farm and its soils. This site allows you to plot your cropland and find your soils.
On eligible croplands with more than one soil type, a weighted average is used to determine the CRP rental rates.
Estimating Marginal Pastureland Rental Rates
The marginal pastureland rental rates are listed as the last rate for each county as “MPLALL” if you have qualifying pastures for CRP practices CP22 and CP29.
Maintenance Rate
All CRP conservation practices receive a minimum of $4 per acre maintenance payment which is added to both the cropland soil rental rates and the marginal pastureland rates. Maintenance rates range from $4-9 per acre depending on the practice specifics.
Several practices receive an additional 20% added to the base rental rate (CP21, CP22, CP29).
Special incentives may apply to the following CRP components- Continuous CRP, CREP, and SAFE.
Contact your County FSA and/or NRCS office to determine your exact CRP rental payment.
